and so it begins
Apologies to her majesty, Queen Lovett, and Awkward-Downton-Pause, who probably meant this post for something else.
You see here Sir Anthony Strallan in the first scene in which we see him in Season one of Downton. You see his left hand? He’s wearing a signet ring on his little finger, or pinky as some of our friends from distant shores call it. He wears this ring throughout Season one.
There is a psychological theory that men who wear signet rings on their little fingers DO NOT LACK CONFIDENCE, in fact, they have above average belief in themselves. Or, as my late (psychiatrist) father used to call it ‘think a bloody lot of themselves’. It was, and is, an accepted thing in upper class circles in England to wear one, usually passed down from father to son.
Now go and look at Sir Anthony after Season one - Season two Christmas Special onwards. After the War. He no longer wears his ring.
I never knew that!
This post makes me sad for dear Sir Anthony and fascinates me all at once.
I love following people far more observant than myself!
Gillingham Speculation: By sallygilmartins: Gillinghammered
Gillingham makes cocktails for everyone and accidentally on purpose makes Mary’s extra strong. Mary starts talking to tiny rabbit figurines and giving everyone hugs.

Things that I love
I keep looking at my Donwton dvd’s.
The temptation to conduct a full re-watch is hard to resist.
But I don’t think I can take the pain, I might just fast forward to the M/M fluff.
Yeah, that’ll work!
